FASSINE MAGPIE

Following recent single ‘Limbs’, London trio Fassine share another glistening industrial-pop track from their forthcoming FORGE LP. New release ‘Magpie’ takes the rumour that this particular bird is attracted to shiny objects and relates that to the human behaviour of being tempted by the idea of love and acceptance within a potential relationship. "A Magpie-type lover and all that comes with it, luring us into the hope of a beautiful relationship", explains the band’s charismatic leader Sarah Palmer. The music video, shot in appropriate black and white, is an art-rock tribute to the dreamy textures and riveting rhythms that give this track such a distinctive flavour. It’s melancholic and laced with doom through those mortuary keys, and yet ‘Magpie’ doesn’t drag the listener down, instead it envelops one in the green-black wings of this intelligent pop composition. As ever Palmer’s voice is beautiful; the perfect accompaniment to the band’s evermore bold instrumentation. As we mentioned before, ‘Magpie’ will feature on Fassie’s next album, to be released March 27th via Trapped Animal Records & Cargo Records. - Hannah Thacker
